China Anhui Hou Keng TAI PING HOU KUI Superior Green Tea
An excellent grade of the famous green tea known as "Monkey Chief from Tai Ping", listed in "50 Famous Teas of China" (All Teas of China, p. 210). grown in the most prized area of the village of Hou Keng (Monkey Pit).
Whole, very long leaves shaped into thin strips.
Light green infusion, slightly lighter, fresh, pleasantly grassy and sweet taste with a light aroma of orchids and exotic flowers.
Preparation tip: pour 6-8 grams of tea into a warm teapot, pour 0.3 liters of water at a temperature of 80°C, steep for about 2.5 minutes, can be re-steeped.
NOTE: The weight of the free sample is 5g.
The tea is grown in the Tai Ping district, on the slopes of the famous Yellow Mountains (Huang Shan), where wild orchids also grow, naturally "scenting" the tea and enhancing its aroma. The name Hou Kui - "Monkey Chief" is derived from the name of the village Hou Keng "Monkey Den", and tea from this area is considered the best Tai Ping. The tea comes from the spring harvest in the first half of April, from the large-leaf cultivar Shi Da Cha, and is harvested as one tip with two leaves. Each leaf is individually flattened in a special press, giving it its typical flat shape with a characteristic "grid" pattern, a trace of the rice paper used in the pressing process. |
