China Hunan JUN SHAN HUANG XIAO CHA Superior Yellow Tea
A delicious variant of yellow tea according to the processing from the famous Jun Shan region from the spring harvest.
Whole, long leaf - tips with two leaves, slightly sweet, herbal aroma.
Yellow-green infusion, excellent, balanced, full-bodied, relatively smooth, herbal greenish flavour with noticeable floral notes and a slight trace of nuts.
Preparation tip: Warm the teapot, add a tea filter with 6 - 7 g of tea, pour 0.3 l of water 75 - 80°C warm, steep about 2 min. Another steep is possible.
Harvested leaves go through the process called Meng Huan – after the primary withering and shaping leafs are put in a vessel and covered by a wet cloth, sometimes wrapped in a piece of paper. Thanks to that there is a certain type of fermentation proceeding during the drying process and the leaves gain their typical yellowish colour.
The tea is lower quality grade of it's famous original yellow tea Huang Ya (Yellow Bud), which is produced from the tips only. Huang Xiao Cha is made from tips and two leaves picked in later spring harvest. |
