China Anhui HUO SHAN HUANG YA (YELLOW BUD) Superior Yellow Tea
An excellent grade of the famous yellow tea called "Yellow Bud from the Huo Mountains", from the first spring harvest before the Qing Ming Jie (Festival of Purity and Brightness), produced by a special method.
The leaves, after being briefly wilted and lightly shaped, are covered for a time with a damp cloth, well sealed, then spread out again and then dried for the first time with hot air. The step is then repeated once more and the leaves are dried at a higher temperature.
Whole, hand-harvested tip with one leaf, only very loosely twisted, slightly sweet smelling.
The infusion is excellent, well-balanced, smooth, fairly full-bodied, fresh, slightly spicy flavours with floral notes.
Preparation tip: warm the teapot, add 6 – 8 g of tea, pour 0.3 l of water 80°C warm, steep about 2.5 minutes, Another steep is possible.
The harvested leaves go through a process called Meng Huan during production - after a short wilting and light shaping, the leaves are covered with a damp cloth, well sealed for a while, then spread out again and then dried for the first time with hot air. The step is then repeated once more and the leaves are dried at a higher temperature, which allows a kind of fermentation to take place during drying and gives the leaves their typical yellowish colour.
This is the highest grade of yellow tea, which is produced exclusively from tips from the first spring harvest. The lower grades come from later harvests and are made using the two leaves with the tips. |
